Meet Kuma! 🐾

Kuma’s name means “bear” in Japanese, and we gave him that name because he looks just like a baby bear, with his fluffy coat and little rounded ears. He was rescued from a local shelter in Korea and is now living with a loving foster family in the U.S. while he waits for his forever home.

Kuma is a curious and bright boy who is interested in every sight and sound around him. He can be cautious with new things, so he likes to watch from a distance first and then slowly come closer once he feels ready. He loves people and other dogs and is very friendly, though he is still learning to take “no” for an answer during play. He tends to invite play with his mouth, so he will needs gentle guidance on his manners.

Kuma also startles easily at sudden movements or unfamiliar sounds. When he feels scared, being touched or picked up can feel like too much, and he may nip to protect himself, but this comes from fear, not aggression. He sheds surprisingly little, almost never barks, and walks nicely. Even though his early indoor marking has almost stopped, he still sometimes dribbles when he is very excited.

When he first arrived in the U.S., he was so overwhelmed that he barely slept, but after just a week he calmed down and now sleeps stretched out with his belly showing. He is also gone from following his foster parents everywhere like a shadow to relaxing comfortably on his own.

Kuma would thrive with a family who can give him a little bit of time and space to adjust. Could you be the one to give this little bear his forever home?
